Poker Endurance Record Goes to Delaware Casino!
It's now official – 2012 live Ironman Poker Challenge at the Delaware Park land casino has become the new holder of a Guinness Book of World Records accolade as the “Longest Continuous Poker Tournament”. In order to obtain the record holder status, the event had to pass extensive confirmation tests, which in the end acknowledged that its 36.5 hour duration is the new record for non-stop poker endurance. The $600 buy-in event saw 192 players who played without any breaks. It was won by Czech player Peter Konas after thirty six hours, thirty four minutes and forty one seconds of action, allowing him to take home a winner's paycheck to $27,160. Commenting on the achievement, Delaware Park executive Andy Gomeringer said: "The Ironman Poker Challenge attracts outstanding and dedicated players, and we are very pleased that Guinness has recognized the stamina and calibre of our players and the Delaware Park staff that supported them.”
