Texas Republican Congressman Joe Barton is about to launch a new initiative in spite of the prior introduction of a more comprehensive online gambling legalisation bill in Congress by Rep. Peter King earlier this year.
This is Barton's second attempt to push an online poker only legalisation bill through Congress, as he claims that federal legalisation - at least for online poker - is a "when" and not an "if" proposition. He also asked poker fans to be patient while the Congressional initiative advances.
As the King's bill includes a wider perspective and choice, and several states have made their choices nonetheless, the time will show the fate of Barton's initiative.
At the same time, the much-publicized new federal bill by Sen. Harry Reid seems to be far away from realization.
