Adrian Mateos Wins WSOP Europe Main Event
Adrian Mateos, 19 of Spain, won the €10,450 buy-in World Series of Poker Europe main event and snagging the first WSOP bracelet of his career. Mateos beat out 374 players including some of the industry's top players making it to a final table comprised of Fabrice Soulier and Jerome Huge of France; Andrei Konopelko from Belarus; German aces Benny Spindler and Dominik Nitsche; and Ravi Raghavan and Shannon Shorr from the United States. Shannon Shorr and Andrei Konopelko were eliminated on Wednesday with the games picking back up on Friday. Mateos faced off against Fabrice Soulier who was in the lead for a short time before Mateo gained the lead after 200 hands. In the end Mateos was €1 million richer while Soulier took second place and €610,000.
