Amateur Wins Pokerstars UKIPT Tournament
The initial Pokerstars UKIPT tournament which took place on the Isle of Man was not won by a poker pro but rather an amateur poker player. Duncan McLellan, a bricklayer, knocked out a pool of 378 players which included popular players including Daniel Negreanu, David Williams, Vanessa Rousso and Jason Mercier. McLellan qualified for the event during a satellite and won GBP 94,090 after sitting at the final table among Fatima Moreira, Richard Milne, Christopher Jonat, Harry Lodge, Daniel Stacey, Janie O'Conner and Adam Topping. Moreira came in second place taking home GBP 59,660. McLellan's win will give him access to more European live tournaments and he will surprise his grandson with a holiday at Disneyland.
