Las Vegas Cab Driver Rewarded for Returning Cash
We recently reported on the story of a poker pro who left behind a paper bag filled with $300,000 in a Las Vegas cab. The driver went above and beyond to locate the owner of the cash. It was unknown as to who the poker player was and whether or not he rewarded his driver for his honesty. An update reveals that the pro gave the cabbie a $10,000 "thank you" tip. Gerardo Gamboa has worked for the Yellow Checker Star Cab Company for 13 years and CEO Bill Shranko confirmed the $10k reward. Gamboa was also given a $1,000 gift certificate to a Las Vegas restaurant from his employer and earned the title of employee of the year. Prior to being given the massive tip, Gamboa told local media, "If he doesn't give me anything, that's OK. I'm not waiting for any kind of return. I just wanted to do the right thing, and I appreciate what the company did for me." Gamboa is originally from the Philippines and when news of the story broke there, a resolution of commendation was passed and sent to Gamboa.
