Online Poker on the Decline in Italy
The Italian online poker market has been on the decline and the latest stats from Agimeg indicate that this ring-fenced market continues to struggle. Operators had high hopes of increasing activity but instead, Italy's cash game market declined further generating revenues of Euro 8.5 million compared to revenue in December 2013 at Euro 14.8 million. PokerStars remained on top in Italy and despite the fall in revenues, the Italian online casino vertical showed improvement in December 2014. The increase in casino games is being attributed to pressure on software suppliers to stop dealing with operators that illegally enter the Italian market.
