Sonnenberg Poker Case Comes to a Close
The Sonnenberg case has come to a close based on a decision from Illinois court Judge David Herndon involving PokerStars and Full Tilt going back to 2012. Kelly Sonnenberg and Judy Fahrner, of Illinois, filed the case based on the Illinois Loss Recovery Act, which allowed people to recover “illegal gambling” losses within six months of the loss. The case was dismissed but it may be refiled. Judge Herndon dismissed the refiled cases this week, ruling that the plaintiffs had not proven that the poker operators profited from their losses as required by the statute. Judge Herndon heard of the major losses players suffered at PokerStars and Full Tilt but the plaintiffs failed to provide examples of those that had won and been successful not to mention the case was filed out of the 6 month window.
