Intertops Satellite Winner Heads to Venice
Intertops Poker has just announced its recent online satellite tournament series winner. The lucky player, Lukas W., a civil servant from Germany, is set to take the trip of a lifetime. His next stop is Venice, Italy, where he will compete in the WPT. Intertops awarded Lukas with a $2200 WPT Prize Package, including a €990 buy-in for the Main Event. Additionally, the lucky player and his girlfriend, will be set up very nicely with premium hotel accommodations, conveniently located near the casino. The event will take place at Casino de Venezia, the oldest casino in the world, and will last for three days, between April 17th and April 20th. Lukas and his components will participate in No Limit Texas Hold'em and each individual will start out with 30,000 chips. There will be a €220,000 guarantee prize pool and blind levels lasting forty minutes. Lukas earned his spot at the Main Event in Venice, while playing against 22 players in the online satellite tournament Final. Reflecting upon the experience, he stated, "I used a re-buy and an add-on. During the tournament I was one of the Big Stacks and I found good spots in all-in situations. I think patience is very important as well as aggression at the right time. At the end, the players were scared and so it was possible to get some chips with raise in position. " It wasn't until a certain point, however, that Lukas began to envision his win: "I realized that I might win when we were 3-handed." He added, "I eliminated one of the opponents in an all in situation KQ>K7 and won a huge pot. At the heads-up, the other player was crippled and so it was over very quick.” According to the Venice-bound winner, this is a whole new experience for him. He states, “I don't play lots of major events. Usually, I'm playing cash games. In 2013 I played a 330€ side event at the EPT Berlin and last year I won a seat at the FPS Cannes for 1.100€. I reached day 2 with only 25BB, and I busted fast without cash. Hopefully, it's time for a catch in Venice this weekend! " An additional three online satellite winners will be jetting off to the Caribbean later this month to participate in the $200K GTD CPPT in St Maarten.
