WSOP, Global Casino Championship, to Take Place at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort
This August marks the 2016 World Series of Poker Global Casino Championship, which will also serve as a gold bracelet tournament, offering a massive $1 million prize pool. It has just been announced that Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort is all set to host. While the event will take place between the 9th and 11th, the casino will also serve as the setting for the first event of the 2016-17 season, scheduled for August 4th through the 16th. General Manager and Senior Vice President of Harrah's Cherokee, Brooks Robinson, is excited that the casino will be housing the event, and hopes that it will serve as a prime opportunity for employees to showcase the facility. This year also marks a historic year for the championship, due to the fact that WSOP International Circuit tournament players will be invited to join in. This means that poker players from across the globe, including those from Morocco, Italy, Canada, the Czech Republic, and others, will have the opportunity to participate. One hundred players will receive a free seat to the event, and the winner at each stop can claim a free set to the tournament event, as well as an entry to the Global Casino Championship. In addition to the winners, 12 additional individuals will have the opportunity to earn seats to the main event, plus the Casino Championship during International Circuit events. The WSOP Circuit has upcoming stops set to take place in Iowa, Cherokee, and New Orleans, while the International Circuit will hit Montreal. Following these stops will be the Global Casino Championship, which boasts a prize pool of $1-$2 million.
