High Times Casino – Cannabis Magazine Eyes Up Nevada Gambling Market
Marijuana is quickly becoming the drug of choice for many state governments in the U.S. California was the first to set up shop (literally) when they made cannabis legal, and regulated. Regulated being the key word here. Dispensaries began opening up with the pipe dreams of making millions of stoners and their anxiety prescriptions from hippie doctors. Other states began to follow suit like Colorado – with many more decriminalizing the drug. Nevada is another of those states who have made medical marijuana legal with dispensaries allowed to operate within state borders. Now there's a big difference between legalizing medical marijuana, and completely making marijuana legal. The former is meant for those with prescriptions to legally consume and carry a specified amount. The latter, can be found in Colorado where anyone is allowed to freely enjoy hits from the bong while spinning their favorite Grateful Dead albums. High Times, what some refer to as – “The Stoners Bible” has made a shift in their marketing department, and are hoping to cash in on the potential of Nevada legalizing all forms of marijuana use. For those who don't now, High Times is a magazine dedicated to marijuana that has been around since the early 70's. Sources close to the publication say High Times partners have obtained licenses for gambling, marijuana dispensaries in the state of Nevada, as well as a cabaret license. Nevada is set to vote on legalizing marijuana in November of 2016 in a bill called Question 2. According to ballotpedia.org. Just imagine walking up to the Blackjack table and sitting next to some stoner kid with a tie dyed shirt on. Your cocktail waitress asks you if you would like a drink. Instead, you ask her to bring you the stickiest bud they offer. She whisks away with a glowing smile and hastily comes back with a tray of assorted marijuana buds. You choose slowly, but wisely, and begin enjoying a few tokes while playing Blackjack. This is the dream High Times has. Smoking in the casino, or on the casino floor is most likely never going to happen; but, the reality of a High Times casino that has a casual area for smokers to relax and enjoy their favorite synthetic herbs, is the real deal. Marijuana sales soared to over $5.4 billion in 2015 according CNBC. That's Billion, with a big fat capitol “B!” It's estimated that over $6.7 billion sales will be reached in 2016. High Times sees their target market talking, and they are going after it in full force.
