Ben Affleck

Ever since the poker boom, celebrities have trying their hand at poker. Maybe it's the fame they are grasping for, but for some it's the thrill of the sport. There was even a show - Celebrity Poker Showdown that pitted famous people against one another in a charity poker event. It was hosted by Phil Gordon and was one of the better poker shows on TV.

Of the many celebrities playing poker these days, Ben Affleck is one of the most notorious. We all know him from the big screen is films like Pearl Harbor and one of my favorite films of all time - 'Chasing Amy'. But his poker skills and overall gambling lifestyle have gained him attention.

The stories of Hollywood games are those of legends and Affleck is surely to be in these tales. We will never know how much has been won and lost, but he has been part of some legendary stories. His recorded cashes total $356,000 in live tournaments. This all comes from one lone tournament.

In 2004, Affleck won the California State Poker Championship. He had to beat out some tough players to earn this title. Jimmy Tran, Amir Vahedi and John Esposito were among those at the final table. He has also been known to play in the WSOP main event but has yet to make the money.

In 2014, Affleck made headlines for being what some called a 'Degenerate Gambler' This was after he was caught counting cards in a Las Vegas casino. While he does not deny the allegations of counting cards in Blackjack, he does not agree with the term degenerate.

The tabloids were swirling with accusations of Affleck being a gambling addict and a degenerate. He does not deny counting cards as it was painfully obvious according to reports. He did mention that he learned to count cards more for fun and does in fact do so. His bets ranged from $100 to $20,000 during the incident which was easily spotted by the casino.

He recently starred in the film 'Runner Runner' with Justin Timberlake. A crime movie revolving around gambling. The film could be compared to his poker success. One run of good luck, but nothing after that.
