One of the smartest guys on the poker tour is Bill Edler. He was born 1964 in Evanston Illinois. He currently lives in Las Vegas Nevada to play poker professionally.
Edler has a background in law and graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a law degree. He began playing live tournaments in the late 90s. He would little success and wouldn't make a big splash in around 2005.
In 2005 he would start to make final tables in all the major tournaments. He would final table the WSOP Circuit event in Indiana for $72,000. He would also final table three Ultimate Poker Challenge events including the $10K main event. He would place 3rd in the main event.
In 2006 he would again show his dominance on the poker circuit. He would start to final table WPT and EPT events. Edler would produce 5 final tables this year, including as big one at the WSOP. He would also cash in the main event at the WSOP this same year.
Bills total live tournament winnings are just over $3.4 million. Much of this came in 2007 when he had one of the best years a pro has had in a long time.
His first big score of 2007 came at the 1st even Heads Up Championships in California. He would win the event for $215,000. A month later he would final the WPT LA Poke classic and finish 7th for $189,000. This would be the first of many final tables and wins in 2007.
In the same month he final tabled the LA Poker Classic, he would final table the Bay 101 Shooting Star event for $160,000. It wouldn't be until September that he would finally win a major WPT event. He would face a tough field at the Gulf Coast Championship stop of the WPT and win the event for $747,000.
This wouldn't be his best cash this year either. Earlier in the year he would play the WSOP and win a 6 handed event for almost $1 million in winnings. He adds one other final table to his WSOP experience bringing his total WSOP earnings to $1.3 million.
Bill has $1.28 million in winnings on the WPT and a handful of cashes on the EPT. His best finish in the WSOP main event was in 2007 during his epic run when he placed 22nd for $333,000.
