Brandon Stevens is a well-known business man from Wichita Kansas. At first he was more known for his business practices and successes than his poker prowess. He has been an entrepreneur since a kid and has had numerous successful ventures.
One of his first successful ventures was in his freshman year at college. The students in his school would get HBO as part of their room and board. However, there was no guide as to what shows were on. He decided to create a listing and sell it to students for $1 apiece.
At first he thought it would be easy money but it turned out to be not as easy as he once thought. Being a smart kid and adaptive he changed his plan and offered the listings for free and instead charged for advertisements. This turned out to be a smart move as he made more money than he originally thought he would.
His knack for business has led to a very successful career. Along with his brother, they now own several successful businesses including a car dealership and numerous real estate investment properties
Today, Stevens is becoming more known for his poker playing than his business skills. His first thrust into poker spotlight came in 2010 when he just missed out on the final table of the WSOP Main Event. He would place 10th and win more than $635,000. This would be the first of many big cashes and final tables.
While technically an amateur, he has won more than many full time pros in their lifetime. His $2 million in live tournament earnings is nothing to sneeze at. He adds 2 final tables at the WSOP and 2 on the WPT to his resume.
His 2013 final table appearance at the WSOP would net him his 2nd largest cash to date. He would finish 7th in the One Drop Event and gain even more poker notoriety along with $621,000. He proved he was no fluke by outlasting some of the best in poker with this cash as well.
Other big scores include a 5th place finish in the high roller event at the 2013 Five Star Classic WPT Main Event. His cash would add $223,000 to his already impressive list of cashes. He also adds a 10th place finish at the PCA in 2011 and a second deep run in the 2013 Main Event placing 91st out of a few thousand players.
